The proposal for this modern residence set in a traditional post-war neighborhood was to use flowering plants to structure the site. An entrance walk leads to the front terrace featuring a specimen yoshino cherry tree. Two star magnolias flank the chimney and a row of redbud trees lines the edge of the sidewalk. Vinca and wintercreeper ground covers are planted in rectangular patterns that echo the geometry of the house. Gridded plantings of winterberry, cornelian cherry, dogwood and fothergilla provide seasonal interest.
